Celebrate The Bloom! July 27 In Butler County, PA’s Only Prairie With Native Blazing Star, 224 Other Species

Join the Celebrate the Bloom!, a free annual event held at DCNR's Jennings Environmental Education Center in Butler County.  This year it will be on July 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..

The Jennings Center is home to the state's only native prairie ecosystem and many unique native prairie plants, including the Blazing Star.  At total of 225 native plant species were identified in this 20-acre prairie habitat

The Blazing Star, which can grow up to four feet high, and features spectacular purple flower blooms on its stalk from top to bottom.

The end of July into early August marks the peak bloom time of this spectacular purple prairie flower and many other flowers.

Nature walks, live music, artisan and food vendors, workshops, and demonstrations are just some of the fun activities this day offers.

The festival will include guided bird, butterfly, and wildflower walks, many engaging demonstrations, unique nature art for sale created by local artisans, and much more!
