PA Officials, Business Leaders Tout Job Growth, $4.7 Billion In Clean Energy Investments In Pennsylvania

On July 18 and 19, RE+ Mid-Atlantic took place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, bringing together hundreds of clean energy industry leaders to enhance innovation and business opportunities in the region.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has so far seen $4.7 billion worth of solar investments and installed 2,167.67 MW of solar energy, enough solar panels to power 287,874 homes

Business leaders agree that the clean energy plan is creating jobs and lowering consumer costs across Pennsylvania. The RE+ event showcases the growth of the clean energy industry.

A recent Climate Power report shows that since the passage of the Clean Energy Plan in August 2022, companies in the United States have announced or moved forward with projects accounting for more than 312,900 new clean energy jobs for electricians, mechanics, construction workers, technicians, support staff, and many others.

“Upgrading to clean energy shouldn’t be needlessly complicated or expensive,“ said Jonathan Knauer, VP of Policy and Market Strategy for ConnectDR. “By reducing barriers to clean energy and continuing to invest in this proven technology, we can help ensure that Americans save money while breathing cleaner air. As a Philadelphia-born company, we’re so happy to have our home city and state serve this week as a showcase for the growth the clean energy economy has experienced in the region over the past several years. The bottom line is that the Inflation Reduction Act is working and we are seeing the results every day. ”

“Clean energy means a more reliable grid and a better future for Pennsylvanians,” said Greg Puschnigg, CEO of Boss Controls. “We need to continue to put the infrastructure in place to ensure that clean energy can power Pennsylvania and states across the country for years to come. The industry leaders and elected officials gathering at RE+ Mid-Atlantic this week are dedicated to creating a healthier environment for all Americans while also fostering a culture of innovation. I’m proud to be a part of the growing and innovative clean energy sector that employs over 96,000 Pennsylvanians.”

“Clean energy is good for our wallets, our health, and our planet,” said MJ Wong Engel, Clean Energy Economy Manager at Climate Power. “Thanks to the clean energy plan, Pennsylvania has seen more than $800 million in clean energy investment. This money is creating good-paying jobs and helping Pennsylvania keep its edge in manufacturing leadership. If our country wants to remain at the forefront of the clean energy boom, we must prioritize innovation based here at home.”
