PA Organization For Watersheds & Rivers Hosts Aug. 21 Online Community Engagement And Climate Resilience Planning Workshop

The PA Organization for Watersheds and Rivers is excited to host staff of the Nurture Nature Center as they share new research and learning resources for community engagement and climate resilience planning during an August 21 webinar starting at 6:00 p.m.

The CREATE Resilience Research and Community Learning Hub was established to help foster communities that are ready, responsive, resilient, and empowered in the face of changing conditions and environmental hazards.

During this webinar participants will learn what makes a community better able to identify vulnerabilities and prepare for, adapt to, and recover from climate related impacts and other hazards.

Attendees will also gain access to digital resources for resiliency planning that can be used and shared with other leaders in your community, including key local government decision-makers.

Volunteer stewardship efforts to restore watersheds and implement best practices like riparian buffers, rain gardens, and bioswales; to remove legacy sediments and reconnect streams to their floodplains; and to remediate waterways from the legacy of mine pollution, are all increasing the resiliency of Pennsylvania’s communities to the effects of a changing climate.

The CREATE project spotlights solutions and local examples and the connection to resiliency.

Join POWR for this webinar to gain more knowledge, resources, and connections to turn climate challenges into opportunities to improve your local environment and your community's ability to adapt, prepare, and event thrive in an uncertain future!
