The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the November 16 PA Bulletin inviting comments on a Chapter 105 Water Obstruction and Encroachment permit application covering activities related to the restoration of Pursley Creek damaged by longwall coal mining in Center Township, Greene County.  (PA Bulletin, page 7532)

The project is being conducted to eliminate pooling in the stream at three sections located over panels 73, 74 and 75 of the Cumberland Mine Oak Forest Mine.

The stream mitigation project consists of gate cuts at a designed excavated slope to eliminate the stream pooling to the pre-mining flow conditions.

Questions should be directed to DEP’s California District Mining Office at 724-769-1100.

Read the entire PA Bulletin notice for information on reviewing the application and submitting comments.  (PA Bulletin, page 7532)
