The PA Association of Natural Resources Extension Professionals has selected the Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission as their 2024 Natural Resource Education Champion award recipient for their unwavering support and partnership in advancing agricultural and environmental education in the Commonwealth. This recognition celebrates the SCC’s collaboration with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Penn State Extension to deliver impactful programs benefiting farmers and conservation professionals across Pennsylvania. From initiatives like the PA OneStop Program to critical nutrient and odor management programs, the SCC has been a cornerstone of support, empowering educators to address the state’s pressing agricultural and environmental challenges. In recent years, the SCC has elevated its commitment, particularly with the establishment of the Penn State Extension Center for Agricultural Conservation Assistance Training in 2023. Backed by a multi-year contract, this center is equipping agricultural conservation professionals with the training and tools needed to foster sustainable farming practices and achieve critical environmental goals. The SCC’s contributions go far beyond financial support; their innovative approach and steadfast dedication to support the momentum necessary to address the needs of sustaining Pennsylvania’s agricultural heritage and protecting its natural resources for future generations is unwavering. This award underscores the invaluable role the SCC plays in Pennsylvania’s agricultural conservation landscape. Their trust in Penn State Extension to deliver high-quality education and technical assistance is a testament to the strong partnership cultivated over the years. Together, this collaboration ensures that farmers, conservation professionals, and the broader community are well-equipped to balance agricultural productivity with environmental stewardship. The SCC’s leadership and vision continue to inspire progress, and this recognition as a Natural Resources Education Champion is well-deserved. The award was presented to the SCC in Boalsburg, PA on Nov 12, 2024 during the PA Joint Council of Extension Professionals annual banquet.
