Highlights of the environmental and energy notices in the January 25 PA Bulletin--

-- PA Oil & Gas Industrial Facilities: Permit Notices, Opportunities To Comment - January 25 [PaEN]

-- The Environmental Quality Board published notice in the January 25 PA Bulletin inviting comments on proposed correction to regulations setting RACT requirements for major sources of NOx and VOCs related to meeting the ozone pollution standard may affect natural gas-fired power plants. Three hearings have been scheduled.  Read more here.

-- DEP published notice in the January 25 PA Bulletin extending the comment period to January 28 on proposed designation of Greater Pittsburgh; Harrisburg-Carlisle-York; Lancaster County and Greater Philadelphia areas in Pennsylvania not meeting the health-based national standard for particulate matter (PM2.5).  [Read more here]. The deadline was January 20.

-- DEP published notice in the January 25 PA Bulletin inviting comments on draft changes to the Guidelines For Submittal of Benching Plans for underground coal mining technical guidance. [DEP ID: 583-2219-001]  Comments are due Feb. 24. 

-- The Susquehanna River Basin Commission published notice in the January 25 PA Bulletin announcing the December approval of 18 shale gas water use general permits in Bradford, Cameron, Center, Clearfield, Lycoming, Susquehanna and Tioga counties. SRBC issued a total of 310 shale gas general permits in 2024.  Read more here.

     -- SRBC also published notice in the January 25 PA Bulletin announcing the registration of five grandfathered water withdrawals in December.

Grants

-- The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources published notice in the January 25 PA Bulletin announcing it opened the latest round of Community Conservation Partnerships Program funding for communities across Pennsylvania to fund parks, recreation, land conservation and riparian buffer projects on January 21 with a deadline of April 2 to submit requests.  Read more here.

Meetings

-- The Delaware River Basin Commission published notice in the January 25 PA Bulletin it will hold a virtual hearing February 5 hearing on 26 water withdrawals, discharges and other projects that could have a substantial effect on water resources and a business meeting on March 12.  Read more here.

-- Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority meetings on March 4, May 20, August 19, November 18.  (formal notice)

-- Grings Hill Business Park, LLC - Grings Hill Warehouse Park: DEP invites comments on a proposed denial of an Individual Stormwater NPDES permit for the 54.48 acre project located in Cumru Twp., Berks County.  (PA Bulletin, page 886)
