The Little Juniata River Association held its 20th Annual River Bank Clean Up on April 12 that attracted 150 volunteers to clean up 20 miles of river banks from Barrie, Huntingdon County to Altoona, Blair County.

Volunteers collected between 4-6 tons of litter along the roads and areas near the river- everything from TV’s, plastic, chairs, tires, and food packaging.

It Is critical to keep contaminants out of our waterways, not just for the trout and other aquatic life, but for our drinking water.

The LJRA is an Adopt-a-highway group with PennDOT and has received many awards from state agencies, environmental nonprofits and national organizations for its effective protection and improvement of this Central Pennsylvania river.
