May Operator Certification Exams, Plus May 22-23 Safety Training

The Pennsylvania Rural Water Association will hold three water and wastewater operator certification exams during May in Crawford, Lackawanna and Clearfield counties.

Certification is a requirement for operating a water or wastewater system in Pennsylvania.

Exams will be held on the following dates and locations:

· May 10 -- Linesville, Crawford County (registration deadline April 12);

· May 17 -- Scranton, Lackawanna County (registration deadline April 19); and

· May 24 -- DuBois, Clearfield County (registration deadline April 26).

PRWA registered more than 600 water and wastewater operators for the DEP Operator Certification Exam in 2006.

PRWA will also hold a 2-day conference May 22-23 to give operators, field personnel and managers the tools they need to work more safely. The Safety Toolbox has been approved for 5 water/wastewater DEP contact hours. The conference will feature such topics as chemical, trench, highway and electrical safety.

The event will be held at the Best Western Conference Center in DuBois. Registration includes meals and can be completed online or by contacting PRWA at 814-353-9302.
