Professional Geologists to Host Underground Storage Tank Workshops
|
The PA Council of Professional Geologists, in cooperation with the PA Underground Storage Tank Indemnification Fund and Department of Environmental Protection, will host workshops at three locations for environmental professionals engaged in storage tank cleanup work. The workshops will be held July 25 in Exton, August 1 in Harrisburg and August 8 in Monroeville. The objective of this program is to improve the operational efficiency of work being done through the USTIF program at every level. For the first time since the inception of the Fund, this program will provide a forum for practitioners to hear details of how proficient or deficient work affects the process of site characterizations and remediations, DEP reviews and approvals, and USTIF payments and non-payments. USTIF representatives will also provide insights into some of the institutional aspects of this statue-based, insurance fund. This program will provide direct information that can be applied to resolving some of the technical and administrative problems that have been thirteen years in the making.
