Community Design for Bike and Pedestrian Access Workshop October 29-31

The Cumberland County Planning Commission, in partnership with the Carlisle Area Health & Wellness Foundation, is hosting a three day training event on healthy community design and planning for bicycle and pedestrian accessibility. The event is titled “Health Community Design– More than a Walk in the Park” and will be held October 29-31 in Carlisle. National expert Mark Fenton will be the featured speaker for the three day event. Mr. Fenton is widely recognized as an advocate for bicycle and pedestrian access and for creation of more sustainable and livable communities. The three day training program will be structured to reach a broad audience. The event will begin with an evening presentation. This opening presentation will be targeted to the general public and will be free of charge to the community. The following two days will include more, detailed workshops on community design and will incorporate a community walkability audit. The event will conclude on with a breakfast presentation intended to reach key municipal officials and community leaders.
