The Senate and House both took action on companion bills that would create the PA Climate Change Act to develop a climate action plan for the Commonwealth and inventory greenhouse gases.

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee this week amended and reported out Senate Bill 266 (Erickson-R-Delaware). The House Appropriations Committee amended and reported out House Bill 110 (Vitali-D-Delaware)

In the Senate the bill was amended to create an advisory committee appointed by House, Senate and Governor, ensure that the climate change report and action plan examines and reflects the diversity of viewpoints on climate change and require the Department of Environmental Protection to utilize a third-party facilitator in working with the advisory committee.

A summary of the bill and a copy of the amendment added by the Committee is available on the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee webpage.

The House amended its version of the legislation to change the effective date to July 1, 2008.
