Detergent Ban, Energy Efficiency Bills on House Environmental Committee Agenda

The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee meets to consider legislation to increase energy efficiency in state buildings and vehicle fleet and prohibiting dishwasher soaps with phosphates. The bills include:

· Special Session House Bill 22 (R.Miller-R-York) requiring a reduction in energy use by state buildings and increased efficiency in state motor fleet; and

· Senate Bill 1017 (Brubaker-R-Lancaster) removing the exemption for dishwasher detergent in the Phosphate Detergent Act next week.

The Committee is chaired by Rep. Bud George (D-Clearfield) and Rep. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango).
