Conservation Landscape Workshop Set for November 8

The North Branch Land Trust is sponsoring an all-day workshop entitled, “Conserving Natural Resources in Growing Communities,” on November 8 at the Tribeca Convention Center on Route 315 in Pittston Township, formerly Victoria Inns & Suites.

The keynote speaker is Michael DiBeradinis, Secretary of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources who will introduce attendees to the new Conservation Landscape Initiative, or CLI, that DCNR is launching statewide.

Other presenters and their respective topics will be: Penn State University professor Bill Elmendorf, “Using Existing Tools to Conserve Natural Resources in Growing Communities”; West Vincent Township manager Jim Wendelgass, “Conservation Success Stories on the Township Books”; Center for Watershed Protection staff, “Forest-Friendly Development Practices and Better Site Design”; and local author and watershed expert Paul DeBarry, “Handling Stormwater Part A and B.”

This program is possible through Northeast PA Urban and Community Forestry Program funded by USDA Forest Service Northeastern Area directed by PA Urban & Community Forestry Council supported by DCNR’s Bureau of Forestry and Penn State Cooperative Extension.

Cost to attend is $25 per person. The workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required and ends November 5. Space is limited.
