Pennsylvania Seeks Bicentennial Farms for Recognition

The Department of Agriculture announced a new Bicentennial Farm Program this week to recognize Pennsylvania families who have been farming the same land for 200 years.

Applications must be submitted by November 1.

Applicants must have: farms owned by the same family for at least 200 consecutive years; a family member must live on the farm on a permanent basis; and the farm must consist of at least 10 acres of the original holding, or gross more than $1,000 annually from the sale of farm products.

Recipients of Bicentennial Farm awards will be invited to attend a special ceremony at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, held annually in Harrisburg.
