Fish & Boat Commission Hosts Dr. Paul Seelbach in December 10 Seminar

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Fish and Boat Commission sent out a notice December 10 that this seminar was rescheduled from December 10 to December 11 at the location and time noted below.

The Fish and Boat Commission and Penn State University are hosting a special seminar featuring a presentation by Dr. Paul Seelbach, Research Program Manager, Fisheries Division, Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Dr. Seelbach's seminar "The emergence of landscape-based tools for river assessment" will be held at 10:00 a.m., December 11, in room 15, Forest Resources Building, State College.

Dr. Seelbach is nationally recognized as an expert on river classification, impacts of land use change on river ecology, large-scale assessment of fish habitat, impacts of hydrological alteration on fish communities and much more.

Dr. Seelbach is a Pennsylvania native and did his undergraduate and Master's work at Bucknell University and then completed his doctorate at the University of Michigan. His current position includes leadership and administration of $4 million statewide research program consisting of 6 research stations, 4 large survey vessels, ~20 research scientists and ~40 support personnel; leadership and administration of the Division through service on Division Management Team; and special Division and Department assignments.

He is also responsible for the management of Sportfish Restoration and State Wildlife Grants federal aid programs and contract research to universities and serves as the Fisheries Division liaison to major universities, including shared oversight of the PERM (partnership) fisheries faculty program.
