PA Home Energy Program to Provide Training for Contractors and Consultants

The Pennsylvania Home Energy program is offering training to contractors and consultants who wish to provide consumers with high-quality energy assessments of their homes. Rising energy prices and environmental concerns have increased consumer, professional and trade interest in green building technology and energy efficiency. In response to this combination of need and demand, the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund has developed the "PA Home Energy” program to help connect consumers with energy consultants and service providers who can provide high quality green energy services. PA Home Energy is focused on assisting Pennsylvania consumers reduce their home energy use while improving their overall home performance. PA Home Energy integrates the general principles of whole house performance with green home design. PA Home Energy will focus on using the ENERGY STAR programs for both new home construction and improving existing homes. To meet the program’s goal of developing a network of certified contractors and consultants, PA Home Energy is offering training in the Home Energy Rating System and the also Building Performance Institute programs.
