House Environmental Committee Meets on Sludge, In-Lieu of Tax Payments, HSCA Reporting

The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee will meet Tuesday to consider legislation requiring testing of sewage sludge, providing in-lieu of tax payments to municipalities for State Park lands and additional reporting of expenditures from the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund. The bills include:

· House Bill 792 (George-D-Clearfield) requiring municipalities to conduct sewage sludge testing on certain lands;

· House Bill 1970 (DeWeese-D-Greene) requiring DCNR to make in-lieu of tax payments for State Parks from Gaming Fund revenues; and

· Senate Bill 913 (MJ.White-R-Venango) providing for additional reporting of expenditures from the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund.

The Majority Chairman of the House Environmental Committee is Rep. Bud George (D-Clearfield) and the Minority Chair is Rep. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango).
