Harrisburg Peregrine Falcon Lays First Three Eggs of Season
Photo

Just after 7 a.m. March 22, the first egg of the 2008 season was delivered to the Peregrine falcons nesting on the 15th floor ledge of the Rachel Carson State Office Building, then shortly thereafter two more.

Typically, the female lays an egg at one to two day intervals. In each of the last two years, she has produced a “clutch” of five eggs.

A pair of nesting falcons can also be seen on the Gulf Tower in Pittsburgh, sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. Watch these annual rites of Spring online!
