House Committee to Consider Deep Mine Safety, Plastic Bag Ban

The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee will meet Tuesday to consider legislation updating the state’s Bituminous coal deep mine safety law and legislation that would ban the use of plastic bags at retail stores.

The bills include: Senate Bill 949 (Kasunic-D-Somerset) updating the Bituminous Coal Mine Safety Act and House Bill 2198 (Bennington-D-Allegheny) banning the use of plastic bags in stores.

Rep. Bud George (D-Clearfield) serves as Majority Chair of the Committee and Rep. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango) serves as Minority Chair.
