Did you know a dog could be a homeowner’s best defense against mold? Find out how a specially trained canine can help protect you from mycotoxins and other poisonous substances in the third segment of Channel 11’s “Going Green” series. “Going Green: Staying Safe” will air Saturday, June 28, at 7:30 pm on WPXI-TV. Channel 11 News Anchor Peggy Finnegan and Channel 11 News Reporter Vince Sims will host the special. The 30-minute program will identify household hazards that often go unnoticed; environmental safety issues that can literally hit home whether you live in the city or a Western Pennsylvania farm. David Mazza from the Pennsylvania Resources Council will be interviewed as part of the program. Issues like lead in children’s toys made in China. The county health department reports that about seven percent of children likely have higher than normal levels of lead in their blood. From hazardous waste stored in garages, to countless chemicals used for lawn care, who is ultimately responsible to protect us from toxic products? Viewers will learn why it’s important to be vigilant about the chemicals they bring into their homes. As Peggy Finnegan reports, “Home, it’s clearly where the heart is but today, it can also be where the hazards are if we don’t pay attention to the environment around us.” The program will also air on PCNC, June 28th at 9:30 pm and Sunday June 29th at 4:00 pm. Once aired, this Going Green segment should be available on the WPXI-TV website. |
