* Coldwater Heritage Partnership Announces Award Of 12 Grants Totaling $70,000 For Stream Habitat Restoration

On March 29, the PA Council of Trout Unlimited is pleased to announce that twelve grants totaling $70,000 have been awarded to conservation organizations across Pennsylvania through the Coldwater Heritage Partnership’s Coldwater Conservation Grant Program.

* Senate, House Republican, Democratic Leaders Seek Applicants Interested In Serving As Chair Of Legislative Reapportionment Commission

On March 29, The four caucus floor leaders-- Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland), House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff (R-Mifflin), Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa (D-Allegheny), and House Democratic Leader Joanna McClinton (D-Philadelphia)--  announced they are seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as the chair of the 2021 PA Legislative Reapportionment Commission.

* Sen. Yaw Plans Bills To Stop State From Supporting Solar Energy Projects With Any Foreign Components; Adopt A Moratorium On Rulemaking During A Declared Emergency

* Reimagine Appalachia Applauds President Biden’s Proposed Infrastructure Plan

On March 31, President Biden came to Pittsburgh to announce his $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan he called a once-in-a-generation investment in America.  Republicans up and down the ticket called it a “Trojan horse” for tax hikes.  Read more here.

* Council Of State Environmental Agencies Works To Encourage Lifecycle Product Stewardship To Minimize Health, Safety, Environmental, Social Impacts

On March 31, the Environmental Council of the States wrote a letter to the Chair of the U.S. House Appropriations Interior & Environment Subcommittee to outline principles that should be incorporated in any federal legislation promoting lifecycle product stewardship.

* EPA Orders Philadelphia Company To Stop Making Inaccurate Health Claims About Pesticide

On March 30, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has ordered ViaClean Technologies, operating in Philadelphia, to stop marketing the pesticide BioProtect RTU with claims that it is effective against surfaces from public health related pathogens such as the coronavirus.

* National Assn. Of Conservation Districts Awards Grants To 6 PA Districts

Last week, the National Association of Conservation Districts awarded grants to support six county conservation districts in Pennsylvania.

* NRCS-PA: Next Deadline For Applications For Conservation Stewardship Funding May 7

The Natural Resources Conservation Service-PA reminded landowners the next deadline for NRCS Conservation Stewardship Program applications to be considered for funding this year is May 7, 2021.

* PA Dept. Of Human Services Urges Families, Landlords To Apply For Utility, Rental Assistance

The Department of Human Services Secretary Teresa Miller encourages individuals and families who pay rent and are at risk of eviction or loss of utility service to apply for help through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).

* DEP Awards $2.4 Million In Driving PA Forward Cleaner Vehicle Funding In 7 Counties

On March 31, the Department of Environmental Protection announced $2,400,969 in Driving PA Forward grants to cleaner fuel transportation projects that will take 62 older diesel vehicles off the road to help improve air quality in many communities.

* Coalition Of Groups Announces Support For Bipartisan Senate Bill To Increase AEPS Solar Share To 5.5%

On March 29, a broad coalition of organizations announced their support for a new bill introduced by Sen. Daniel Laughlin (R-Erie) and Sen.
