New Environmental Laws in 2007 Lead by REAP Farm Conservation Tax Credit
A variety of new environmental laws were put on the books during 2007, but leading the pack was the new $10 million Resource Enhancement and Protection Program (REAP) farm conservation tax credit program adopted through the efforts of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, PA Farm Bureau and a broad coalition of farm, environmental, hunting, angling and business groups.

The Department of Environmental Protection is reminding 15 counties that county funds are still available for land use planning, watershed protection, farmland preservation and open space projects through unused landfill closure accounts.

Metals Now Removed from Ash at the Lancaster Resource Recovery Facility
The Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority has recovered over 102,300 tons of ferrous metals from the ash of its resource recover facility since the facility began operation in 1991 and has generated an income of over $200,000 annually.
