* Wild Resource Conservation Program 2009 Calendar Now Available
"Habitats In Peril" is the theme of the 2009 Calendar now available from the Wild Resource Conservation Program for download and printing.

* Video Blog - Welcome to Cosmo's World And Learn About Biodiversity, Invasive Species And More
The Pennsylvania Wild Resource Conservation Program has a new online education program featuring Cosmo the flying squirrel and Terra the river otter to help teach students about biodiversity, invasive species, endangered species and climate change.
* On the Senate/House Agenda/Session Schedule
The next scheduled session day is January 6 when Senate and House members will begin a new legislative session. All bills have to be reintroduced from last session and start their journey to become law all over again.

* House GOP Appoints Committee Chairs, Full Senate Committee Chair List
House Republican Leader Sam Smith (R-Jefferson) this week appointed Republican Chairs to each of the standing committees--

* Chesapeake Bay Foundation To File Lawsuit Against EPA On Chesapeake Bay Cleanup
On January 3 the notice of intent to file a lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency expires and news reports this week quoted Chesapeake Bay Foundation President William C. Baker as saying CBF will follow through and file the lawsuit.

* Fish & Boat Commission Holds Meeting On Susquehanna Smallmouth Bass Project
The Fish and Boat Commission is inviting anglers and others with an interest in the management and protection of smallmouth bass in the Susquehanna River to a free public meeting on January 31 at the River Rescue Building in Harrisburg.

* Westmoreland County Conservation District Upcoming Education Programs
Homeowners, high school students, engineers, farmers, contractors, woodlot owners, pond and well owners and just about anyone interested in using our natural resources wisely can find a program of interest from the Westmoreland Conservation District’s new 2009 education workshop lineup.

Pennsylvania will move ahead with its plans to implement the federal Clean Air Interstate Rule on January 1 after a federal court reversed an earlier decision that struck down the rule.

Beginning January 1, homeowners and commercial building owners can take advantage of substantially lower rates for mine subsidence insurance, making it more affordable to protect against catastrophic damage should an abandoned mine beneath their property collapse without warning.

The Department of Environmental Protection this week set March 31 as the deadline for municipalities to submit Host Municipality Inspector Reimbursement applications covering 2008.

* Resources Available To Communities On Sustainable Parks, Recreation Programming
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has two publications available to help communities develop sustainable parks and recreational programing.

* State Parks Offer Cabin Fever Discount
The Bureau of State Parks is offering visitors a chance to enjoy winter rest and relaxation by booking rustic and modern cabins at 23 state parks at discounted rates with the annual "Cabin Fever" lodging promotion.

* Game Commission Offers Commissioner Daniel Hill Praise for Service
Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe this week offered praise to Game Commissioner H. Daniel Hill III, of Erie, for his service on the Board.  Hill announced his resignation from the Board to focus more attention on his new position as Senior Policy Advisor and Counselor with Congresswoman-elect Kathy Dahlkemper, D-3.
