Great American Cleanup Of PA Registrations 21 Percent Ahead Of Last Year
PA CleanWays reports groups registering their stream and roadside cleanup events for the Great American Cleanup of PA are 21 percent ahead of last year, and that's not counting events being held by PennDOT's Adopt-A-Highway groups.
 
So far 528 events are registered and can take advantage of the free disposal of any materials they collect at participating PA Waste Industries Association disposal facilities.
 
In 2008 175,200 people took part in cleanup projects across the state cleaning up 21,653 miles of roadways,10,822 acres of park land, collecting 10.5 million pounds of trash. They also planted 10,077 trees, flowers and bulbs. (Full report online)
