Senate/House Bills Moving
These bills of interest saw action in the Senate or House this week--
 
Senate

Nomination: John Hanger was confirmed as Secretary of Environmental Protection by a 45-5 vote. Senators Earll (R-Erie), Folmer (R-Lebanon), Robbins (R-Mercer), D. White (R-Indiana) and Mary Jo White (R-Venango) voted in the negative.

Methane Board: Senate Bill 275 (D.White-R-Indiana) establishing the Coal Methane Review Board was reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Landscape Architects: Senate Bill 45 (Greenleaf-R-Montgomery) further providing continuing education requirements for Landscape Architects reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Air Quality Plans: Senate Bill 115 (MJ White-R-Venango) requiring publication of changes to the State Air Quality Implementation Plan was reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

DEP Special Funds: Senate Bill 116 (MJ White) requiring additional reporting for DEP special funds was reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Keystone Fund: Senate Bill 117 (MJ White) requiring additional reporting for expenditures from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund was reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Hazardous Sites: Senate Bill 118 (MJ White) providing for the deposit of penalties into the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund was reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

House

Recycling Fee: House Bill 961 (Buxton-D-Dauphin) extending the sunset date for the $2/ton Recycling Fee through 2015 was reported from the House Appropriations Committee and passed by the House. It now goes to the Senate for action.

Timber Theft: House Bill 481 (Hanna-D-Centre) increasing the penalty for timber sales was passed by the House and now goes to the Senate for consideration.

Landscape Architects: House Bill 703 (Burns-D-Cambria) further providing for continuing education and application requirements was passed by the House and now moves to the Senate for action.

Rate Caps: House Bill 20 (McCall-D-Carbon) phasing in electric rate increases was amended and reported out of the House Consumer Affairs Committee and was referred to House Appropriations Committee.

Arbor Day: House Resolution 234 (Marsico-R-Dauphin) recognizing April 24 as Arbor Day was adopted by the House.

Drinking Water Week: House Resolution 161 (Hutchinson-R-Venango) desginating May 3-9 Drinking Water Week adopted by the House.
