USA Gypsum Releases New Barn Dry Product Derived From Recycling Drywall
|
USA Gypsum, Reinholds, Pa, has released a new barn dry product. GripX1, is a non slip agent used for stables, walkways and animal pens that can become slippery when wet.
Gypsum is 100 percent more soluble than lime and absorbs more moisture so less barn dry is needed to keep barn walkways dry and safe than with 100% lime based products. GripX1 consists of a special formulation of white high calcium lime and recycled drywall gypsum.
The combination of lime and gypsum provides the best odor control, drying capability and traction for sure footed safe walkways. GripX1 is naturally safe, non caustic, non toxic for humans and animals. GripX1 creates a bright white appearance that leaves barn floors clean and sanitary.
When floors are wet ammonia odors can be strong. In addition to superior drying capability gypsum converts ammonia to ammonium sulfate which does not release into the air. Using GripX1 will result in less odor and better air quality in the barn.
USA Gypsum collects new unpainted drywall scraps from construction projects. Contractors reduce disposal costs while improving the environment by preventing scraps from reaching landfills. Farmers also save money by paying less for recycled gypsum than mined gypsum.
For over ten years USA Gypsum has been recycling drywall into agricultural products for use as soil amendments and animal bedding. There are many environmental benefits from recycling drywall. Instead of mining for more gypsum, natural resources can be conserved by recycling drywall scraps. Recent studies concluded that for every ton of gypsum diverted from landfills over 0.2 tons of Green House gases / CO2 equivalents are eliminated.
