Clinton CleanScapes West Branch Susquehanna River Cleanup August 14

Clinton County CleanScapes and our partners will hold the 4th Annual West Branch Susquehanna River Cleanup on August 14 in the area of Jersey Shore, Lycoming County.
This event will begin at 8:45 a.m. will conclude with a complementary lunch sponsored by the Borough of Jersey Shore Council between 12 noon-12:45 p.m..  Refreshments, gloves and garbage bags will also be provided.  Pre-registration is requested by 12 noon on August 12.
The current river level at Jersey Shore is 1.8 feet high.  At this time, the shallow height may prohibit all canoes, kayaks, and flat bottom boats.  If river levels are low on August 14, this cleanup event may be a 100 percent wading activity.  This will make seeing the tires and debris easier yet more physically challenging!  River walking may be slow, but the good news is there only one shorter section to complete!
In the last 3 years, 164 participants removed 11.89 tons (24,969 lbs.) of man-made debris and 434 tires were removed during the previous events.  The Cleanup began in Pine Creek, Clinton Co., and have steadily moved downstream.  This year we will work above and below the green iron bridge, Rt. 44, and complete this 4-mile section of the West Branch Susquehanna River Trail!
