Butler County 2011 Hazardous Waste, Electronics Collections Successful

The results are in - residents dropped off 16.7 tons of hazardous waste and 21.8 tons of electronics at Butler County’s ten collections held in 2011. The figures are up from 14.5 and 12.7 tons respectively in 2010.
There were 506 participants in the program this year, up from 372 last year. All materials were either properly recycled or disposed of by a fully licensed hazardous waste contractor, ECS&R of Cochranton, Pa.
The 2012 collection schedule will be developed and released as soon as possible with a target date for the first collection in late spring. This program was made possible by the Board of Butler County Commissioners and a grant from the Department of Environmental Protection.
