|
The Conewago Creek Watershed Initiative in Central PA will host a webinar on August 21 starting at noon as part of their Lessons From The Land Series on the topic of Measuring Environmental Outcomes In An Integrated Watershed. The Conewago Initiative, a projected funded by the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation and participated in by a wide range of local, state and federal partners, has worked to identify and document environmental outcomes of the intensive work underway across the landscape. In Spring, 2012—the USGS conducted a synoptic study that evaluated at multiple locations across the watershed the concentrations of pollutants during a storm event. In early summer, 2012, the Department of Environmental Protection, Lancaster County Conservation District, local watershed organizatins and Penn State Extension teamed up to assess the fish population in a wetland restoration areas of the Conewago Creek. USGS’s Mike Langland, Hydrologist, Pennsylvania Science Center, USGS and Penn State Extension’s Kristen Kyler, Conewago Initiative Project Assistant, will present on the outcomes of these studies—and what they mean for the Conewago efforts. Matt Royer, Director of the Lower Susquehanna Initiative, Penn State AG & Environment Center, will moderate. To join this webinar, sign up online before the event. The program can also be viewed online as a recording after the live broadcast. |
