Budget Discussions Coming Down To Wire… As Usual
|
The big news this week was the Supreme Court decision on gaming, but the Senate did pass the budget Gov. Rendell proposed for next year (with a few tweaks). Everyone knows it was just to get a vehicle in place. The House was doing the same. The Senate-passed version did include $10 million for the Hazardous Sites Cleanup Fund that will run out of money July 1, but no provisions yet for the Growing Greener bond issue (see separate article). Meanwhile discussions continue on the big ticket item—Medicaid—that once resolved will allow other issues to be taken up. This week the Senate and House will go until they’re done. Lay in supplies!
