Nature Abounds Seeks Volunteers To Be Lake Erie Climate Ambassadors
|
Nature Abounds is seeking volunteers to be Climate Change Ambassadors in the Lake Erie Region. Volunteers will learn about the basics of climate change, changes already happening in the region, as well as changes expected to take place in the future. Volunteers will be trained on how to share the information with friends and family, local officials, the media and the general public. The Great Lakes region is facing great changes due to the changing climate. Increased algae blooms and pollution as well as shorter periods of ice coverage are just a couple that scientists are already witnessing. To become a Climate Change Ambassador, volunteers can attend a half-day training or they can complete a short correspondence course. The in-person trainings will be held in Buffalo NY (June 19), Erie PA (June 20) and Cleveland (June 21). The project is being made possible with support of Freshwater Future, a non-profit organization that works to ensure the healthy future of our waters in the Great Lakes region. To attend a Climate Change Ambassador training or to sign up as a Climate Change Ambassador, please contact Melinda at Nature Abounds by sending email to: volunteer@natureabounds.org or by calling 814-765-1453. |
