President Names PA’s Stickler Head of Federal Mine Safety Program

President Bush announced he intends to nominate Richard Stickler, former Director of DEP’s Bureau of Deep Mine Safety, to be Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health.

Mr. Stickler served as Director of Pennsylvania's Bureau of Deep Mine Safety during the 2002 Quecreek Mine Rescue. Earlier in his career, he worked for Beth Energy Mines, Inc. for thirty years. During that time, Mr. Stickler held a number of positions including Manager, Superintendent and Shift Foreman. He received his bachelor's degree from Fairmont State College.
