Paddle Without Pollution Offers New Way To Support Watershed Stewardship

Pittsburgh-based Paddle Without Pollution’s 2015 Spring Fundraising Campaign kicked off Wednesday on Indiegogo.com, the largest global fundraising site. The non-profit organization’s goal is to raise $8000 in 60 days to support this year’s watershed stewardship campaign. Since 2011, PWP has removed more than 42 tons of litter and illegally dumped debris from Western Pennsylvania’s waters and engaged more than 300 volunteers per year in stewardship work that makes an immediate difference to the health of our waterways. “Paddle Without Pollution’s Spring Fundraising Campaign is vital to the success of our stewardship work,” said David Rohm, Executive Director of Special Operations for PWP. “The funds will be used for necessities such as equipment, safety gear, supplies like trash bags and gloves, volunteer recruitment, promotion, insurance, tire recycling, and trash pickup fees.” The online campaign offers fun “perks” for donors such as PWP stickers, t-shirts, and hats; an Orvis fly rod outfit; and tickets to this fall’s benefit dinner. Two of the more unusual perks are the opportunity to have your name on one of the PWP boats for a year and the chance to involve your family and friends in a private cleanup in 2016, organized by PWP.
