Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Berks County Tuesday announced it has received continued support from the PPL Foundation with a generous sustaining grant of $2,500.

“This type of grant supports everything we do at Hawk Mountain, from global training and research to leading school groups to welcoming hikers,” says Director of Development Mary Linkevich. “We couldn’t be more grateful.”

This grant comes just in time for autumn migration season. Funds will contribute to weekend programs, educational workshops, and the fall lectures that are offered on weekends through early November, in addition to maintaining the eight-mile trail system and supporting long-term raptor migration monitoring and other global research.

“Whether it’s helping our customers learn how to save energy or working with organizations like Hawk Mountain to protect endangered species and educate the public, PPL is focused on environmental stewardship,” said Carol Obando-Derstine, PPL Electric Utilities’ regional affairs director. “We commend Hawk Mountain for helping to create lasting change in the environment and contributing positively to the region by providing a great outdoor destination for visitors.”
