Keep PA Beautiful’s Cumberland County Affiliate Transitions From All Volunteer Led To County Recycling Office

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s Cumberland County affiliate formed in 2001 by a group of dedicated local volunteers, with support from the County Conservation District Office. They had a vision of a clean and beautiful Cumberland County and worked tirelessly as PA CleanWays of Cumberland County to complete their objectives. Over the past two decades, PA CleanWays of Cumberland County forged partnerships with groups, agencies and individuals, including the County Recycling Office, creating relationships that have been the force behind numerous successful community events, including illegal dump cleanups, education events and multiple tire collections. With support from the County Recycling Office, the affiliate responsibilities will migrate to a shared staffed position. Justin Miller, County Recycling Coordinator, will assume the day-to-day operations and continue to build on the many successes that came before. The group’s new name will be Keep Cumberland County Beautiful. “It is an honor to have been asked to take over the day-to-day operations. I’m ready for the challenge and excited to get started. More importantly, I want to see the previous group’s efforts carry into the future,” said Recycling and Waste Authority Coordinator, Justin C. Miller. “I hope I can make as much a difference as they did in keeping Cumberland County beautiful.” “Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is grateful to the many individuals, specifically Mike Onofrey, John Clark, Diane Hollinger and her late husband Darwin Hollinger, who believed in our mission and were instrumental to building and maintaining a strong foundation for the local affiliate, and the many other volunteers throughout the years who helped make local programming possible,” said Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. ‘We are grateful to Justin and the County Recycling Office for seeing the value in continuing the Affiliate. We hope to complement the existing programs and resources to make it even easier for residents of Cumberland County to keep their communities clean and beautiful.”.
