The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Cumberland County will host a September 19 in-person Gardening With Nature - Stormwater-Friendly Lawn Care Workshop in Cumberland County at the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library, 100 N. 19th Street in Camp Hill from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

It is well known that lawns do not provide the same environmental benefits as the forests, meadows, or wetlands they replaced. However, many people are unaware of the simple steps they can take to manage stormwater produced by turfgrass.

This presentation will share five techniques to make your yard more water-friendly: lawn downsizing, eliminating unnecessary grass fertilizer, proper mowing, minimizing soil compaction, and practicing effective pest management.
