Environmental Integrity Project: President Orders Hundreds Of Energy Emergency Reviews Of US Army Corps Of Engineers Project Permits, Including Dozens In PA

On February 19, the Environmental Integrity Project released a spreadsheet listing the 668 US Army Corps of Engineers "Energy Emergency Projects" reviews ordered by the President.

The list includes projects in Bradford, Clearfield, Dauphin, Lycoming, Philadelphia, Somerset, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Washington and York counties.

The Chesapeake Energy "unauthorized fill" permits are in response to projects the company illegally constructed without necessary permits.

For large projects that require public notification, the “emergency” review could mean reduced or no opportunities for local residents to hear about and object to harmful permits and less environmental scrutiny by regulators and weaker protections for wetlands in permits.
